Morphology
EB = exabyte (semi-transparent) = E + B
EB is a standard initialism for 'exabyte', but the meaning is recoverable only if the learner knows the technical abbreviation convention.
Etymology
The word EB is short for exabyte, which uses the prefix exa- meaning 'six', like in hexagon. Because it is 1000 multiplied by itself six times, an EB is an enormous amount of data — about one billion gigabytes — so we use EB for very large storage or internet traffic.
