Morphology
unweeded = weeded (semi-transparent) = un + weed + ed
The morphological relation (un- + weeded) is clear, but the sense extends metaphorically to 'unwanted or unnecessary elements' beyond literal plants, which may not be obvious to all learners.
Etymology
Unweeded is made of un- 'not' and weed 'a wild plant', so it originally meant 'not cleared of weeds'. Think of a garden left full of weeds where it is hard to find the good plants — in the same way an unweeded report or database still has unwanted items, which is why we use unweeded for collections not cleared of unnecessary things.
