The word is formed from the specialized base 'typography' plus an agentive suffix, but the profession is only partly predictable for an average learner.
Etymology
Typographer comes from type, meaning 'letter' or 'shape', and the ending -grapher, meaning 'one who writes', the same ending you see in photographer. So a typographer is someone who arranges and designs letters and text for books, papers, or screens.
