Surface Forms

throughput singular
throughputs plural

Morphology

throughput = put (semi-transparent) = through + put

The components 'through' and 'put' are identifiable, but the specialized technical sense 'amount processed/passing through (per time)' is domain-specific and not fully obvious to a general B1 learner. [Postprocessing: moved 'through' from base_words to prefix]

Etymology

Throughput joins through ('from one side to the other') and put ('to send or place'), which gives a clear picture: something is being put through a system. So, throughput means how much you 'put through' a machine or process in a certain time, like water moving through a pipe or data moving through a network.
