Stormtrooper comes from the simple idea of storm ('a sudden, powerful attack') and trooper ('soldier' or 'member of a troop'), so it suggests a group of soldiers moving like a storm. In Star Wars the name fits the many identical soldiers in white armor who act and fight together.
