Morphology

revamp = vamp (opaque) = re + vamp

If the learner knows the rare verb 'vamp' meaning 'patch up or renovate', 'revamp' is partly interpretable, but the modern sense is broader and not simply 'vamp again'.

Etymology

The word revamp is made of re- meaning 'again' and vamp which used to mean 'to patch', for example when mending the front part of a shoe. So to revamp something is to 'fix again' or change it to make it better.
