Morphology

restrike = strike (semi-transparent) = re + strike

The prefix 're-' clearly adds repetition, but the minting sense of 'strike' is technical and may not be available to many learners.

Etymology

Restrike combines re- 'again' with strike 'to hit', and you can imagine a coin being hit twice to make another piece. So to restrike a coin is to strike it again to produce another copy, often for collectors.
