Etymology
Recordable is formed from the verb record plus -able, meaning 'can', and you can think of record as 'putting something down so you can play it again'. The root parts re- 'again' and cor 'heart' gave the idea of 'bringing something back', which is why recordable means 'can be saved onto a CD, DVD, tape, or similar media'.
