Morphology
Etymology
Pyrethrin comes from the plant name pyrethrum, a kind of chrysanthemum, and that plant name goes back to a Greek root pyr meaning 'fire' or 'fever'. A helpful image is that the flower gave a strong, almost 'hot' sting, so pyrethrin is the natural chemical from that flower that quickly stuns and kills insects.
