The location sense is built from 'nest' plus a verbal suffix, but the modern meaning of being sheltered or partly hidden is slightly extended.

Etymology

Nestle comes from the old word nest, which means 'a bird's home'. Picture a nest hidden in tree branches; a house or village that nestles among trees is sitting in a safe, sheltered, partly hidden place like that. So, to say a cabin nestles in the woods is to say it lies snug and protected.
