The word is transparently formed by adding mono- 'single' to clonal.

Etymology

Monoclonal (noun) starts with mono- meaning 'one' and ends with clone meaning 'a copy made from one original cell'. So a monoclonal antibody is made from one cell 'copy' and all its molecules are identical, which is why it can target a specific disease.
