Etymology
Listlessness comes from the old word list, which once meant 'desire' or 'want', plus the ending -less meaning 'without' and -ness that makes a noun. So listlessness literally means 'without desire', which is why it describes a lack of energy or interest. This list is not the same as the 'list' you write on paper.
