Etymology
Hemosiderin comes from parts meaning 'blood' and 'iron': hemo- 'blood' (seen in hemoglobin) and sider- 'iron'. It is a brown pigment made when iron from broken blood builds up in body tissues, which is why the name literally means 'blood-iron'.
