Morphology
Etymology
Glycolic comes from the Greek root glycol-, from glykys meaning 'sweet', because the chemical is related to sugars. The ending -ic means 'relating to', so glycolic means 'relating to a sugar-like acid', which is why we use glycolic for skincare acids that help peel and renew the skin.
