geomorphology = morphology (semi-transparent) = geo + morph + logy
The term is built by adding geo- to morphology, but the specialized geological sense is only partly predictable for ordinary learners.
Etymology
Geomorphology comes from three parts: geo- 'earth', morph 'shape', and -logy 'study', with the same geo- as in geography and the same ending as in biology. So, geomorphology is the study of the Earth's shapes and landforms.
