Etymology

Fludarabine comes from the parts fluoro (meaning 'has fluorine', like in fluoride) and arabine (a drug name from the sugar 'arabinose'). So fludarabine is a fluorinated form of arabine, a modified sugar-like drug, which is why it is used in chemotherapy to attack fast-growing cancer cells.
