The meaning is directly compositional: 'feature' (principal, main or full-length) combined with 'film' (movie) yields 'the principal or full-length movie.' This is a common and transparent NP formation found across languages, so a B1 learner who knows both words can readily infer the meaning.
Etymology
Feature film comes from old cinema shows where one long film was the feature, the 'main attraction', after several short films. That's why feature film now means a full-length film that is the main movie in a cinema showing.
