The verb 'catch' readily conveys 'get/receive', so in principle 'catch a ___' can transparently mean 'get a [thing]'. However, 'fade' as a noun meaning a specific barbershop haircut is slang/varietal and not a predictable extension of the basic sense 'to become less visible', so the overall sense is only partly inferable without cultural/regional knowledge.

Etymology

Catch a fade may come from barbershop talk. A fade is a haircut where the hair becomes very short at the sides and smoothly blends into the top, so to catch a fade is to go and 'get' that neat, blended cut.
