Etymology
Camphoraceous comes from camphor, a strong, minty-smelling substance whose name came from Asian words such as Sanskrit 'karpūra' and Arabic 'kafur', and the ending -aceous which means 'like'. So camphoraceous simply means 'like camphor', which is why we use it for sharp, menthol-type smells or ointments.
