Etymology
The word bulimia comes from Greek parts bous meaning 'ox' and limos meaning 'hunger', so it originally meant 'ox-hunger' or a very strong appetite. That's why doctors use bulimia to name an abnormal medical condition of extreme hunger, for example after a brain injury.
