Etymology
The word Stoicism comes from the Greek word stoa, which means 'porch' or 'covered walk' where philosophers met and taught, so their group became known as the Stoics. So Stoicism is the teaching from those people, and that is why being 'stoic' means staying calm and not showing strong feelings.
