Etymology
Sinai Peninsula gets its name from Sinai, the mountain where the Bible says Moses received the Ten Commandments, so people think of the area as special and holy. That's why 'Sinai Peninsula' now refers to the strip of land in Egypt that connects Africa and Asia.
