Etymology

Mohammad comes from the Arabic name Muhammad, built on the word hamd which means 'praise', so Mohammad means 'praiseworthy' or 'the praised one'. Because of that meaning, the man called Mohammad is honored by Muslims as the last prophet of Islam.
