Etymology

LGBTQ is made of letters where each letter stands for a group: L for 'lesbian', G for 'gay', B for 'bisexual', T for 'transgender', and Q for 'queer' or 'questioning'. It grew from LGB by adding T and Q to be more inclusive, so LGBTQ is a short way to name people who are not 'straight' or whose gender is different from the one they were given at birth.
