Etymology

Carpathian Mountains may get their name from an old people called the 'Carpi' who lived in the area long ago. Because the 'Carpi' lived in rough, rocky land, their name was used for the whole range, so today Carpathian Mountains means those rugged mountains in central and eastern Europe.
